OK...I can breath! Took James to the Dr this morning because we had to check in with our stool sampling results! DRUM ROLL....NO PARASITES!!! Whoop whoop.
I would highly recommend that you test your ASD children for these pesky bastards! They wreck havoc on a already compromised gut. James tested positive for parasites in January of this year and we made the decision to treat him. We have never looked back! Holy cow did we see a difference in James. So routinely I have him tested especially in Winter as Parasites love this time of the year and thrive on all that good gut bacteria.
I also recommend you get your child onto a really good probiotic! There are so many on the market so best you get into a good ASD specialised Dietitian, nutritionist or natropath... repeat MUST HAVE ASD KNOWLEDGE!!!! They will recommend a good one based on the history and results of your ASD child.
Ok, so I also had to ask to get full bloods done again as James has low Zinc, Iron, Vitamin D he also has extremely high vitamin B12.... like NOT NORMAL level of vitamin B12 !!! It means that his body is not absorbing the crucial Vitamin.
So the doctor was all for full bloods again.
Then I had to ask for something really weird.... I want James tested for a gene mutation called MTHFR!!
MTHFR is a gene mutation that causes a range of issues.... its all to do with your body absorbing nutrients, vitamins, minerals and or the lack of!!! Example it effects energy, anxiety!, detoxifying CHEMICALS affects neurotransmitters!!!
If you have the mutation there is a range of symptoms.... hello ASD!!! With the right supplementation your body can function to its optimal and seeing the GUT is the second BRAIN its important to get that all working correctly. Once you know you have the gene you can be supplemented to live a happy life!
So TICK TICK TICK, I have the form and we are testing for MTHFR, no doubt James has the mutation. Once positive we will start supplementing. Did you know that 90% of ASD children have an MTHFR genetic mutation!!!!!
So the above was today! Great outcome! We are getting closer and closer with our fight to heal James. So tomorrow James and I travel 2 hours to his immunologist to mainly discuss Jame's food situation. I will however be bringing up all of the above with him to see his opinion also.
It really is hard work. But no one is going to help you heal you child! Remember they are happy to slap the label on the head and walk away! But as a parent its your responsibility to do more. James has changed so so much since he was diagnosed. Its a combination of everything but he has two parents who don't give up the fight! Don't give up!
I read this morning that having a child on the Autism Spectrum is like looking after 3 children in one and I also read that ASD mums have the same stress level as a soldier!
Look after yourselves beautiful people and together we can be AMAZING ASD MUMMY SOLDIERS TOGETHER!
