James was up at 6.30am this morning learning WORLD FLAGS. Yep, that is CORRECT! Learning. Learning. Learning. We have learnt that when James shows interest in something TO GO WITH IT.
Learning with something you are passionate about helps you retain information.
Yesterday James' Preschool called me and stated they were blown away that he could recognize a couple of flags. So of course Daddy and I went shopping to find a World Flag poster so that we could continue this new LOVE. He particularly likes the Brazilian flag, he told me it has a diamond on it. I think that's how he is remembering what each flag is, the shapes that each one contains. CLEVER BOY!
James then had Sensory OT this morning. My gosh has he got an awesome OT.
She gets him. She is patient. She pushes his boundaries. He was so well regulated today and attentive!!!
After OT I took James to the supermarket to gather some items. It's so important to involve him in as much daily life as possible. So today James pushed the trolley (proprioceptive input), gathered the items that I asked for (great listening skills), scanned the items (patience) and paid (independence). He did so good!
We are now home for the day. I have some fine motor activities planned for this afternoon. I really want James to be able to write his name by the time he is 4 (January 2017). He is like most ASD kiddies and doesn't understand how to hold a pen or how much pressure to use when writing or drawing. This is a skill that we will need to work on. WHATEVER IT TAKES.
So yesterday I started a detox. A liver detox. MEH
We are so lucky to have an awesome nutritionist that works in our clinic. She has put me on a Metagenics powder, its delicious...... NOT! I mixed the powder with orange juice last night and it tasted a little like cocktail. This morning I mixed it with raspberries and coconut water.... nothing is going to mask the horrendous taste but I will continue to plug away at this for my overall health and well being. I have learnt since having kids how important it is to take care of yourself.
I am always up for a good detox and supplements, especially after the research I do now regarding toxins and chemicals since having James. But I always like to go to someone with gret knowledge in what they are doing so that I am feeding my body with the right things. Like anything in life all supplements are NOT the same. There are so many dodgy, shonky companies out there that are NOT interested in your health or well being like they state they are just interested in their bottom line. There are so many supplements on the market that do not do what they say they do an are full of synthetic crap. Go to a knowledgeable practitioner, but well researched supplements, eat clean and DETOX.
So there's my plan for the next few months. Clean my system out.
Have a great day folks,
