It's Tuesday (aka soccer school Tuesday)....Tuesday in our house is activity day!
James started soccer training at the start of Term 2.
James' Dad has played soccer since a young age at a high level, we wanted to get James involved in soccer but were concerned about how he would go in that environment.
Well.... he has exceeded our expectations!
James' receptive communication, social skills, patience and motor skills have all improved since starting soccer. We found the most amazing soccer school! The coaches that James has are really a credit to the organization. Coach Sue is the head coach of James soccer class, she has the right amount of discipline for these young kids especially James and his additional needs.
She knows exactly when to push him and when to back away. Because of Sue James has flourished! He hasn't grasped the concept of the game yet but he now does the whole warmup, before class chat and is getting really good at the drills (with persistence from the coaches to maintain James' attention).
I grew up dancing. I was at the studio almost everyday. It was disciplined and I believe the discipline made me the person I am today. I can see this shaping James and it's so beautiful to see his progression! I highly recommend you get your ASD children into a sport, anything that requires structure, focus and discipline. Find something your child is interested in, persist! That's the key I think! Persistence.... James has bad days (believe me) but I persist.
We don't give up! WHATEVER IT TAKES... right!
Much Love, Sharna xx
