Oh MAN, what a morning.
James was up at 4am this morning screaming the house own, screaming for Mum, screaming for Dad, screaming for who knows what..... he was hysterical. James has vivid dreams and sometimes walks around screaming while still in dream like state. This morning however he woke the entire household, Scarlett didn't go back to sleep until 6.30am.
Of course James fell straight back asleep on the couch!
Everyone was up at 7.30am. I am on the go slow today, I really dragged my feet while getting James ready for school.
We arrive at Pre School and from a mile away James could see that they had a Jumping Castle... oh man! James loves jumping castles, they give him great sensory input BUT they send him into overdrive really, really quickly. I am a little concerned for him today as he won't want to stay off the castle yet he will need to in order to keep himself regulated.
I really hope that he has a fantastic day at Pre School, I actually don't know if I can cope with him being overloaded today. Maybe I should have some wine at the ready just in case its an awful afternoon.
Yesterday James had a fantastic speech therapy appointment. We are working on the words WANT and NEED. James doesn't understand when to use the word want, he uses need a lot so we are just trying to give this more clarity. James had a big meltdown however when we left speech therapy because he thought we were heading straight to soccer. In order to defuse a meltdown we went to the shops to get a few things to kill some time before soccer practice. Unfortunately we had an incident in town where a horrible man pushed James to the floor and called him a retard. It really bugs me, the pushing to the floor doesn't bug me as much as the use of that word. I backed down because the man was drug effected. So many of you sent such nice messages to us, thank you!!!
Soccer practice was a HIT! James had a great lesson. He is getting better an better at listening to the coaches, he is getting more patient during drill times BUT he doesn't yet understand the concept of the game. He gets upset when he can't get near the ball so he goes to the ball bag and gets his own and starts playing his own game amongst the game. LOL.... makes me laugh so hard. We are lucky that we have great coaches and equally great parents who always praise James.
Man I am down in the dumps today. I need little Miss Scarlett to go to sleep so I can have a break. Sometimes running around like this really really wears me down. This last two weeks has been so busy that I have only done bare minimal to do with the house because I feel its more important to get James to his appointments and activities. Life hey.... its always so manic, when we have quiet moments as mothers we feel guilty because the laundry basket is overflowing, the oven is filthy and the floors are sticky.... I need to go easy on myself today, as much as I would like to think I am an octopus, I am not!
Today's Sharna is braver, stronger , smarter and much more loved..... I just need to remember that. xx
