WE DID IT..... WE ABSOLUTELY ACED IT!!!!!
I really really don't have time to be sitting here writing this post right now, BUT I am so excited to share our fantastic news with you all. I haven't been able to really express my excitement yet today and I know that all my ASD community will GET IT. James is pretty badly overloaded right about now.....
James had his psychology appointment today it was a follow up on progress assessment.
The last time his psychologist saw him was 10 months ago when she diagnosed him with ASD.
She was blown away with everything today.
I could see the smile on her face and it just made me want to cry.
She noted a massive improvement in eye contact, receptive and expressive communication, speech improvement, imitation, pretend play etc. She was blown away with my thorough schedule that we have at present and was excited at the schedule planned for 2017, she said I have covered all facets and I should be proud of everything we have done thus far.
We spoke about when she feels James should start school too and gave some really strong points as to why he should go the year he turns 6 and not the year he turns 5. She believes that the extra year of early intervention, therapy, pre school and maturity and Mum support will make his future much brighter.... I AGREE!
Intellectually see believes James has a high IQ so sending him to school without the maturity only makes him look like he is struggling when in fact he is smarter than the average.
He will have a cognitive assessment right before he goes to school but she believes he would absolutely ace it if he did it now.
James took with him a pack of cards to the assessment, they were number flash cards. They were numbered 1-100. She couldn't believe how James was so amazing with numbers .... AGAIN I am crying! James can count to 1000, he can sight a card an tell you instantly the number on it. She flashed James the cards for a solid 20 minutes... she wanted him to get one wrong, lol he didn't!
IN YOUR FACE ASD!!!!
Its been a LONG and HARD 10 months.... James has achieved things that are often said children with ASD can't achieve.
I have dedicated my life to making sure he comes out of the shadows and stays here!!! So his positive assessment is a HUGE pat on the back for James and its a HUGE pat on the back to ME!
People still don't have any idea of what we put in to James, we don't do it for anything other than his development but its so nice to see someone see what we have done for this amazing result.
I am really happy right now because I know that all this hard work is paying off!
Thank you for following our Journey and I hope today's assessment inspires you to not give up, keep pounding even harder on the days that you feel like giving up!
