It's the WEEKEND!
Doesn't really mean too much when you are a stay at home MUM.... its does mean that DADDIO is home all day SUNDAY! Whoop whoop... an extra set of hands to wrangle number 1 and 2.
Tomorrow is also Fathers Day her is Australia (not sure about the rest of the world)....! The kids and I have been working on Canvas' to give out to Grand fathers. Its such great therapy! For ME and for them! Yes we get paint EVERYWHERE but they are creating some amazing pieces. We finger paint onto the canvas' purely for the tactile input that James receives. So that's a big TICK for TACTILE sensory input for today as we applied another layer this morning to our artworks.
James is still not feeling great today. Daddio got up with James at 1.40am this morning and gave him some Panadol and lots of cuddles. BEST DADDY EVER! He may not do the laundry, dishes or cook dinner (THEO don't pretend like you do), BUT he does SO SO SO SO much with the kids. James and Scarlett are super lucky to have Theo as their superhero Dad, especially James... Theo is very hands on with James. Theo co-sleeps with James (this helps with anxiety and proprioceptive input), wakes to James every single night to resettle him, Theo takes him on park adventures and most importantly understands him and protects him always! He has always wrapped him up in a little protective daddy bubble... and I honestly think that's why James' anxiety has improved so much.
So....... happy happy FATHERS DAY to the best Daddy in the world... you are OUR super hero and we LOVE you like a fat kid loves CAKE (or Krispy Kreme donuts)... SORRY I ate the last Jam Krispy Kreme!
So a good friend of mine who reads my BLOG (aka THERAPY) suggested I start offering some of my knowledge. I have a lot of knowledge... ! Cue big head (but not cause I love myself) from so much information. When I first started this journey I started reading document after document that suggested a big link between the gut and brain. Now James has always had a crap GUT. At 3 weeks old James was diagnosed with Cows Milk protein allergy (not lactose intolerant people... a full blown ALLERGY), once he started solids we discovered he had FPIES (Food Protein Induced Entercolitis Syndrome), a rare allergy to protein food in food that causes havoc on the body, distroying the lining of the gastro track. So HEAL the gut! We started our journey on healing the GUT!
So the first person I got onboard in complementary medicine was an ASD specialized dietitian.
The first thing she did was look at James' blood work... ZINC & IRON.
Long story short she put James on ZINC, IRON and a Pro biotic.
BAM... after I swear like 2 days I had a very very different child!
We have now got a few other things in our diet as far as supplements go but I won't bore you will all that!
Todays TIP would therefore be to get yourself a natropath, dietitian, nutritionist anyone that has knowledge and understanding of the GUT/BRAIN connection and start complementing your child with these safe measures. What have you got to lose... nothing! Each childs GUT make up is different so its important to not self medicate and get seen by a professional.
So folks its that time... Daddy has just walked in the door from a LONG WEEK at the clinic.
We might take him outside and PELT water balloons at him.... LOVE!
