Good Morning Beautiful Community!
What a fantastic morning it is so far.... James ate some food! YAY!
Two bites of nuttlex toast to be exact, he asked for it, Mum delivered.
In a world where there is pain this morning, my household has a little positive light.... As a special needs parent it is so important to celebrate the wins, no matter how small they are!
If you have just checked in with our family, food is a HUGE issue in our house, James has ASD, SPD, FPIES, we have had a big problem with food since the day James was born.
We are still undergoing tests to see if there is more to why James won't eat solid food, example: gastroenterology issues like bacteria, infections etc.
James has FPIES, this is a rare food protein allergy that tears at the lining of the gastro tract.
ASD, SPD make him FUSSY with texture, taste, smell, colour and everything in between.
So between all his conditions its NUTS.
We do food therapy daily, he does sensory integration therapy weekly, speech therapy weekly, oral motor exercises daily, slowly and surely we are climbing some stairs... its slow but we are climbing!
Yesterday he asked for some chips too. I delivered them and he ate half the packet.
I am such a baby, when ever James eats something I find my eyes welling up with tears.
It makes me so proud, for I know how far he has come to even touch the said food with his hands.
Today is Thursday!
Thursday is a big day in our house, as most of my regulars know!
We have speech therapy today and James has soccer. We missed all activities last week due to the wonderful gastro bug we all received.
Its hard to get back into the swing of things when you are forced to shut down for sickness. I am still not yet on top of my house work.... EEKKK. BUT, I do have two happy children and at the end of the day that's all that matters! But please send a magic cleaning fairy my way, if you have one... JOKES, we all know that MUMMIES are the magic fairies in the world.
I am sorry I didn't write yesterday. It was a massively stressful day. I had a discussion with the pre school after the biting incident, a child bite James quiet bad on his upper right arm and the pre school were unaware of it happening. I was extremely upset and had so many questions going through my head as to how the hell it could happen when he has a full time support worker etc etc etc.
I went in to the meeting with my fight pants on. Anyone that knows me knows that you don't mess with my children and you especially don't mess with my special needs child!!! I didn't have to use my fight pants, the school knows they failed him and I was happy with their action and response to the matter. James like many special needs children don't have the same voice as a mainstream child, we have to be their voice.
I have a loud one and I do what I do for James and all the little kiddies with additional and special needs. My Mummy nerves as still upset about the incident, it will take me some time to let it go.
So here is a quote for today...
"Whenever one person stands up and says, "wait a minute, this is wrong" it helps other people do the same.
